Why the “stages of change” can be a useful model for advisors working with family owned-privately held businesses?

  • Acts as a guide to generate important discussions that can lead to greater trust and less conflict among ownership groups.
  • Identifies potential issues around change before they become problems or significant conflicts.
  • Creates a picture of possible outcomes if issues are not addressed proactively and strategically.
  • Can act as a tool to develop deeper relationships between the Trusted Advisor and the next generation of ownership.
  • Is a low-risk method for Trusted Advisors to determine client’s willingness to change and address and plan for transition.
  • Allows Trusted Advisor to identify key products or services to address earlier stages in change process.
  • Advisors will get an idea of where their client is on the stages of change model seen here…

Report delivery that protects confidentiality and respects trusted advisor relationships

  • After your client completes the on-line questionnaire, the TPA report will be sent to THE TRUSTED ADVISOR or Owner (if preferred). Information included in the report is written in a way that the business owner can interpret and apply.
